DIY: PULLOVER MIT HERZ!

Als ich diesen Pullover sah, dachte ich sofort an einen meiner alten Basic-Pullover, der ungeliebt in meinem Kleiderschrank hängt, und an sein Potential, eines Tages genauso gut wie der Herzpullover auszusehen. Gesagt, getan. Und es war ganz einfach.

Alles, was man braucht, ist ein einfarbiger Pullover, Textilfarbe (Ich kann die Farbe von Caparol für 3 € empfehlen), ein Bügeleisen, ein Bügelbrett, eine Plastiktüte (ca. A4-Format), eine Schere, einen Stift, einen Pinsel und Bücherschutzfolie (zum Einschlagen von Schulbüchern, etwa 3 €).  

All you need is a plain sweater, fabric paint, an iron, an ironing board, a big plastic bag, a scissor, a pen, a foam brush and adhesive bookcover (something like this).

Von der Bücherschutzfolie ein 30 cm x 30 cm großes Stück abschneiden, ausbreiten und mit der Rückseite nach außen, in der Mitte längs falten. Mit ein paar schweren Gegenständen fixieren. Mit einem Stift ein halbes Herz aufmalen, das sich zur Falz hin öffnet (so dass es ausgeschnitten ein ganzes Herz ergibt...).

Cut a 12 x 12 inch-sized piece of the book foil and fold it once, back side up. Fix it with some objects you find on your table and draw half a heart on it, so that it will make a co omplete heart if you open the foil again.

Das halbe Herz ausschneiden.  Cut out the heart.

Das Stück Folie aufklappen. Wir brauchen nur das Drumherum als Schablone (siehe Bild).

Open up the foil. We'll only need the surrounding as shown above.

Nun die Plastiktüte über das Bügelbrett ziehen, damit jenes nicht vollgemalt wird. Dann den Pullover über die Tüte stülpen, mit der Seite, die bedruckt werden soll nach oben. Die Folie von der Unterseite abziehen und mittig auf dem Pullover positionieren.

Put the plastic bag around the ironing board, so that it won't get dirty, when you'll paint your sweater. Put the sweater over the board and the bag, right side up. Pull off the foil from its ground and place it in the middle of your sweater.

So. Die Folie vor allem am Rand des Herzens gut festdrücken.

Secure the stencil by pushing it on the sweater, especially at the corners of the heart.

Die Farbe vor dem Auftragen aufrühren.

Stir the paint before you begin to dab on.

Das Herz mit einem Pinsel ausmalen, vom Rand zur Mitte hin streichen, damit die Farbe nicht unter den Folienrand gerät.

With a foam brush, dab on fabric paint until the area in the stencil is fully saturated. Make sure no paint is getting under the border by stroking the brush from the corner to the middle of the heart.

Darauf achten, dass das Herz blickdicht bemalt ist. Nach die Farbe ein wenig getrocknet ist, findet ihr eventuell noch Stellen, die ihr nacharbeiten müsst. Ich hab den Pullover über Nacht so liegen lassen, damit die Farbe gut trocknen kann.

Allow the paint to dry throughly (for example over night) and then gently pull away the book foil.

Die Folie abziehen. Wenn die Farbe auf der Folie noch nicht getrocknet ist, müsst ihr aufpassen, dass ihr euch diese nicht an den Pullover oder sonst wohin schmiert.

Be careful with your sweater if the paint on the foil isn't dry yet.

Den Pullover vom Bügelbrett ziehen, die Tüte abstreifen, den Pullover auf links drehen und das Herz von links nach den Angaben des Farbherstellers bügeln (bei mir 3 Minuten bei Baumwollstufe). Nach dem Bügeln sollte der Pullover ganz normal zu waschen sein.

Pull off the sweater and plastic bag from the ironing board and put the wrong side of the sweater out. Heat set the heart with a hot iron as declared on your fabric paint (once heat set, the tights should be fine to wash as you normally would).

Das war's. Ziemlich einfach, oder?

That's it. Really simple, isn't it?

Auf einen anderen Pullover habe ich ein kleines Herz gedruckt. Natürlich lassen sich auch Ellenbogenschoner und Knieschoner auf diese Weise aufmalen... Oder ihr nehmt statt einem Herz einen Stern oder Tannenbaum (Weihnachten!). Ich hoffe jedenfalls, dass der ein oder andere von euch Spaß daran hat, es auszuprobieren. I painted another sweater with a small heart. Of course you can also paint ellbow and knee patches in this way. For the holidays it would be fun to paint a star or christmas tree instead of a heart on it. I hope some of you have fun trying this out. If you do so I would love to see your sweaters!
